Stop 1 - Gaya Prasad, Gali Paranthe Wali, Chandani Chowk
Finally in these 20 something years, I got the chance to visit the most famous 'Paranthe wali gali'. It is one of the oldest places that has existed in Delhi and has been so famous for the variety of paranthas found here. It is a small lane where you can smell the paranthas right from the moment you enter it. Every other shop is selling these deep fried paranthas.
We went to the oldest shop here called as Gaya Prasad. You will see the rush outside the shop. We got the table after waiting for about 10-15 minutes. We ordered Paneer, Mix and Pudna Parantha. It is served with Aloo ki sabzi and salad/pickle. It was pretty average. Nothing like the ones made at home. Hygiene is a real big issue here. A little overhyped but worth a visit once for the experience. |
Stop 2 - Giani Di Hatti, Chandani Chowk
Our next stop was Giani Di Hatti. it is the oldest Gianis in the history of Delhi. It is pretty famous for its Rabri Faluda. No doubt, it was amazingly delicious! We also tried Dal Halwa which is made in pure desi ghee and was also yummy. There was also a small area where you can sit and order thing to eat. We ordered Chole Bhature. It was not the best but decent enough. |
Stop 3 - Mahalaxmi Mishthan Bhandar, Chandani Chowk
Stop 4 - Ved Prakash Lemon wale, Chandani Chowk
Stop 5 - Moti Mahal Restaurant, Daryaganj
If you are a fan of Mughlai food, then you MUST visit this place because this is where Butter Chicken was invented. I would recommend you to definitely visit this place and try the 'authentic' Butter Chicken here. It is just so different from what we define as Butter Chicken. The gravy was smooth and chicken pieces were too soft. It tasted amazing. We had Chicken Malai Tikka for the starters, which was okaish. |
